Balance
Balance is our ultimate goal within each ecosystem we create. Diversity is the key to balance, thus the need for more life forms to partake in the natural cycle. This diversity is accomplished by incorporating niches for the microbes, plants, animals and multiple filtration techniques. For instance, different bacteria and plants will pull different nutrients from the water column throughout the seasons. This results in a naturally much higher quality water system than one which relies only on classical filtration methods.
